BGMC Trading Card Post, Limited Edition Cards, and World Championship at GC

ORLANDO, Fla. — Fans of BGMC (Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge), who are attending General Council in Orlando this week, are in for possibly the most fun and exciting week BGMC has ever offered at a General Council.

This year, the NextGen Exhibit Hall booth (#300), which includes BGMC, will not only have popular “bigger-than-life” BGMC characters — Buddy Barrel, Pencil Pal, Winnie the World, and Grandpa Buddy — making guest appearances throughout the week, but it will be home to the BGMC Trading Card Post (for trading cards), card grading from noon to 1 p.m. each day, and the weeklong BGMC Trading Card World Championship matches.

“The BGMC Trading Card Game has quickly become extremely popular,” says co-creator, Stacey Lux. “Kids love playing the game, collecting and trading cards, learning about missionaries and ministries, and then taking ownership by praying for those missionaries and ministries.”

According to David Alexieff, BGMC director, in just over a year, BGMC has printed more than 2 million cards, while admitting that the incredible popularity of the game has created the welcomed challenge of keeping cards in stock.

But in addition to the characters, trading post, card grading, and the World Championship matches — where the winner receives a one-of-a-kind World Champion holographic trading card (pictured below) — BGMC Trading Card fans have the opportunity to collect 12 cards for free from BGMC partner booths at General Council.

“We have 12 partners who will be in the Exhibit Hall at General Council,” Alexieff says. “Each partner has a limited number of our most recent card generation that can be acquired by visiting that booth, with a limit of one card per person, per booth. Each of these cards will be holographic versions, which will only be available at General Council.”

The BGMC partner ministries include: Africa’s Children, AG Foster Care Network, AG World Missions, Asia’s Little Ones, Convoy of Hope, F.R.E.E. International, Live Dead, Project Rescue, Speed the Light (NextGen Missions booth), U.S. Missionaries (AGUSM booth), World Missionaries (you will have to search for this one), and WorldServe International.

“As each booth has a limited supply of cards, the rule is one card, per person, per booth,” Lux emphasizes. “We want every fan of BGMC Trading Cards attending General Council to have an opportunity to get cards and learn more about missions as they add to their collection, however, once the cards are gone, they’re gone.”

Alexieff says that the World Championship matches, will have 48 players (who were selected through online registration) going head-to-head for the title, with no age limit. However, if a player who was selected to participate is unable to play, there is a standby list at the booth for interested participants.

“Those interested in and available to participate in the World Championship matches will need to understand the general rules of the game and bring their own deck of 40 cards,” Lux says. “The matches will take place each day in the NextGen booth.”

Lux adds that in addition to the BGMC Trading Card Post being at NextGen booth throughout General Council, it will also be offered Wednesday night for kids at the Buddy Party at Camp GC.

“We also just finished the BGMC Trading Card Game Score Tracking App that is super-helpful to use during gameplay to keep score,” Lux says. “You can also keep track of your cards on it in the updated buddy log — it’s very cool (see below)!”
